I love the thrill of little moments when time stands still. I love first looks and meaningful vows.

But more than I love weddings, I love marriage. I love the time-tested, vow-practicing, intimate partnership that is marriage. Being a witness to the details of a wedding is an honor; observing the beauty of a marriage is a privilege.

I've known Lisa for about 10 years. We've gone to the same church, been part of small groups together, and enjoyed a friendship based on our love of God, shoes, and Lin Manuel.

When I met Michael about 3 years ago it was one of their first dates and it was (conveniently) at a mutual friends' wedding. The first moments I spoke to Michael I could tell how smitten he was with Lisa and I could see a peaceful joy in Lisa that was new and wonderful. After our friends' wedding I asked Lisa when she and Michael were going to get married. She smiled and said they'd already talked about it and she wanted me to take the pictures. When you know, you know.

The wedding was all set for April 18, 2020 when the global pandemic shut down the possibility of so many dreams that Michael and Lisa had been planning. They chose to continue with the wedding, in their living room, with just a paster - and hundreds of their friends on Zoom. It was not what they pictured but they knew their marriage wasn't based on a day, it was based on forever.

On April 18, 2021, though droves of friends and family wouldn't be able to attend their wedding/anniversary due to the continuing pandemic, their closest 11 people were able to join them for a day that was intimate and meaningful. It was a celebration of their first year of marriage and of their wedding day. It is a privilege to watch Michael and Lisa express the love they have for one another on their first day of marriage and on their 365th day of marriage.

Lisa and Michael chose the Melhorn Manor for the backdrop of their special day. It is a gorgeous venue in Mt. Joy, PA. Jessica & Allory Melhorn were dedicated hosts.

Getting ReadyGetting Ready

Lisa dreamt of her "First Look" with Michael for a very long time and I think it was worth the wait. Like every wedding I have had the honor to capture, the first look always provides my favorite images!

First LookFirst Look

Because this day was unlike any other we had the opportunity to do something I've never done: a family first look! I feel like in every wedding we should all clap and cheer when we see the bride and groom - it was a lovely moment!

Family First LookFamily First Look

Often, people say the first year of marriage is the hardest. At the beginning of the pandemic Michael and Lisa got married and the world was on lockdown. They went from going to work every day to working remotely and living with each other 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for an entire year. And they're better for it. Their love is deep and they know each other better now then most couples know each other in the first 5 years of marriage (maybe more)! Their smiles and glances tell the truth of their love.

Formal PortraitsFormal Portraits

At the reception Michael and Lisa shared their vows, had their first dance, enjoyed some toasts, and, of course, cut the cake! It was a sweet ending to a perfect day.

Michael and Lisa,

Though nothing was what you'd originally planned, it was still perfect, wasn't it? Your marriage is beautiful and I feel so privileged to know you both and to have had the opportunity to capture your special day.

With much love,

Samantha's Luau Bat Mitzvah! https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2019/10/samanthas-luau-bat-mitzvah My favorite part of photography is watching children and families grow. It was a pleasure to photograph the 3rd Bat/Bar Mitzvah for this fantastic family. Last Saturday it was Samantha's turn to be celebrated by friends and family as she experienced her Bat Mitzvah. She is a beautiful young lady both inside and out. Here are a few favorites of this beauty!

Matthew's Bar Mitzvah! https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2018/2/matthews-bar-mitzvah I had the pleasure of photographing Matthew's Bar Mitzvah! I've known Matthew for the last 5+ years and it has been such a pleasure to watch him grow and mature. He is an incredibly kind young man with manners that are second to none! We started the day with some formal portraits. He has a wonderful, supportive family and they were all there to encourage Matthew.

The Bar Mitzvah service was held at the lovely Piney Branch Golf Club in Upperco, MD. Reading from the Torah and speaking to your closest family and friends is no easy task but Matthew did a wonderful job! It was a memorable service and each of his family members played a special role in the Bar Mitzvah.

Let Them Be Little - [Harford County Family Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2017/11/let-them-be-little---harford-county-family-session I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful family this weekend to capture some images for their Christmas cards (and gifts)! You may recognize them as I've had the honor of photographing some major milestones in their lives (engagement, wedding, and 1st birthday)! It is one my favorite parts of this job to see families grow in front of my lens. I love this crew!

I feel a little bit like I'm lying when I say we met for a session. To be honest, it was more of a playdate! These kiddos were explorers and loved to have fun! I loved capturing their natural expressions and watching them discover new things to play! I strongly believe that being 3 is not a time to sit and pose but a time to run and play! These two are perfect 3 year olds!!

Preview 00Preview 00

Are you smiling yet? Isn't their joy contagious?! And, they're as cute as they are sweet!

Preview 01Preview 01

You may not believe me, but when I first arrived, both brother and sister were super shy! It's amazing how quickly they showed me their true selves!

Preview 02Preview 02

Mom and dad are doing a fantastic job loving these kiddos and letting them be little.

Thank you all for letting me capture this beautiful moment in your family's life. It is a joy to watch you love your babies and it is a blessing to know you all.

Love, Meggan

Made for Each Other - [Pennsylvania Wedding] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2017/10/made-for-each-other-pennsylvania-wedding Abbie & Doug. From the start, anyone who knew them knew they were meant to be. They get each other. They make each other laugh. They are their truest selves when they are with the other. Their wedding was the perfect day. It was simple and elegant, honest and pure - it was a beautiful reflection of them both. They were surrounded by the people who love them, and there was so much joy.

All the day's events were held at The Old Stone Mill 1792, in Glenville, PA. It was a fantastic backdrop for the day's events. Both the bride and groom got ready in the gorgeous, restored mill. Melissa helped to make everyone's hair picture perfect and Ashli provided amazing make-up.

Genuine Love - [Pennsylvania Engagement Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2017/2/genuine These two. I adore them. Whenever I spend time with a couple I think about what I'll say in their blog post. For these two, the word "genuine" kept popping into my head. They are truly in love. The way they look at one another, interact with each other, and show affection to one another - it's so pure.

I felt like I was hanging out with them while they were on a date. They are so real and every single nuance that I captured was 100% them. Abbie & Doug, I hope you enjoy your preview and I'm so excited that you chose me to capture your engagement session. I'm so excited for your big day in September!!

Beautiful Sisters - {Baltimore County Family Session} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2015/11/beautiful-sisters---baltimore-county-family-session I love this family. I've known them for 4 years and each year they grow more and more beautiful! We met at Oregon Ridge Park in Baltimore County - it was the perfect setting for our session.

These sweet sisters have the sweetest personalities and the really love each other. Aren't they SO adorable?!

Last, but of course not least, are a few of my very favorite family photos from the afternoon. I couldn't pick just one!!

Fall Family Session - [Carroll county] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2015/10/fall-family-session---carroll-county Perfect. That's the only way to describe this session. The family is one that I love, they have super adorable (and well behaved) kids, the weather was perfect, the lighting was amazing, and the result makes me so happy. The warmth of the glow of the sun fills my heart! This family holds an extra special place in my heart. The daddy is my oldest daughter's teacher - which automatically qualifies him for sainthood. The mommy is an accomplished artist, see her work HERE. And all four kiddos have the sweetest little personalities! They keep their mommy and daddy busy at home and I wanted to be sure that we got some shots of them being themselves. I had such a fun time.

Here's one of my favorite pics of the day (though it was hard to choose)!

1 Year – A Celebration – {Bel Air Birthday} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2015/8/1672 Saturday I had the opportunity to photograph a 1 year old birthday party. It wasn’t just a birthday party, it was a celebration. Exactly one year ago there were two sweet babies born into this world at just 26 weeks gestation. They have been through a lot in their one year and they have caught up and passed expectations and charmed their way into the hearts of everyone. This party was a chance for family and friends to gather together to share in the joy of all of the milestones that these two beautiful miracles have achieved this year. Happy birthday!

Have I mentioned the love?! All of their living great-grandparents were there to celebrate along with all of their grandparents and a huge amount of uncles, aunts, and tons of cousins! The love was palpable.

Mommy took care of every detail. There were many memories throughout their first year on display. What a long way they’ve come from 2 pounds 5 ounces and 1 pound 10 ounces!

Let them eat cake! There’s not much better than one year olds feeding themselves cake – ha! Miss Summer really got into it!

preview3 Time for presents! As with most little ones, the wrapping paper is the best part! They also got adorable chairs that they couldn’t wait to try out!

preview42 Happy birthday Quentin and Summer! Thanks for inviting me to your party – happy birthday! What an honor to watch you grow!

I hope you enjoy your preview Mommy and Daddy!

ONE! {Baltimore County Child & Family Session} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2015/6/1663 011

Friday morning I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable one year old and her parents at Hammerman Park. It was a perfect morning. There were plenty of clouds to shelter us from the bright morning sun. I could not get enough of the lighting. Isn’t she gorgeous?!

I love these family pictures. Little O. is definitely a Mama’s girl at the moment but her face lights up whenever she sees her daddy.

021 The park had beautiful rustic spots, open grassy areas, and a beach! We had so much fun at each spot. It was a very relaxed session. We just sat and enjoyed our time with plenty of laughs and exploring.

I cannot even handle this swimsuit! Oh. My. Word. It’s just perfection – and she sweet girl wearing it just completes the picture! Cuteness!!

04 Thanks again for spending your morning with me! It was an absolute pleasure to capture this time in your family’s life.

Baby A – Coming Soon! {Baltimore City Maternity Session} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2015/6/1655 Tuesday night I had the pleasure of meeting this adorable couple at Patterson Park in downtown Baltimore City. Before we hit the park we stopped by the gorgeous and historic 1840s Ballroom. We had to recreate a special moment from when Mom & Dad got married just a few years ago. Things have changed just a bit – love the bump! (photo credit on the left:  Signe Renn)

This session was also special because it’s not often that Dad gets in front of the camera! He’s usually the one behind the camera (Kenneth Adam Photography). You did a wonderful job (both of you)! You’re both naturals and very photogenic!

It was hard to choose just one or two pictures for this preview (so I didn’t)! You two are adorable and I can’t wait to meet your baby girl in just a few weeks – yay!

02 Prediction: Baby A has dimples!

One last shot – we were all a little skeptical about this spot but I adore it! I love the back light in black and white – too gorgeous!

03 I hope you enjoy your preview!

1 Year Old! {Carroll County Session} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2015/4/1648 I had the privilege of photographing this adorable family for their sweet boy’s (belated) 1st birthday! We went to Hashawa in Carroll County and we all loved the beautiful setting! We had to wait for our endless winter to end before we could brave the outdoors but it was definitely worth the wait!

preview Their sweet boy is so content and easy going! He loved hanging out in the grass and finding all of the leaves that he could! He had the funniest expressions and I loved capturing a few of them!

Thank you for spending your Saturday morning with me! I loved the time I spent with your sweet family! I hope you enjoy your previews!

New Baby Girl – [Baltimore County Newborn Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2014/11/1640 Two years (ago almost to the day) I took these pictures [here] of a tiny little baby girl and now I’m back to take pictures of tiny baby sister! When I look back at the pictures I’m amazed at how similar the sisters look!

Baby sister is so calm and sweet – and alert! She’s just 12 days old here.

Here’s big sister with baby sister! I can’t believe how much big sister has grown! Look at those dimples!

021 There’s always something that melts me about daddy/daughter pictures. I just love the way baby sister stares up at her daddy – first love!

I love the true expressions on this one. Big sister was counting everyone’s nose!

I’ll end with my favorite image of the day (although it’s hard to choose)! There’s something so calming and peaceful about watching a family interact and just love each other as they are cuddling on their couch in their own home. Those glimpses into real life – when they forget, even for a second, that I’m snapping away. Their expressions are so pure. I love it.

Thank you so much for inviting me into your home (again)! It’s always a pleasure to capture images of your sweet family! I hope you enjoy your preview!

Sisters – [Baltimore County Family Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2014/11/1630 It’s been a year and a half since I took photographs of this family. A lot has changed – including a new baby sister! I love this sweet family and their beautiful, sweet girls!

We had A LOT of fun with some Christmas ornaments and decorations! Little sister was learning all about how to play by watching all of big sister’s moves!

There were a lot of giggles and silly faces – I couldn’t resist sharing this one!!

preview-5 But big sister also shared some sweet smiles too! Isn’t she stunning?!?

Little sister is an absolute doll baby. She has the most quiet and sweet demeanor of any 9 month old I think I’ve ever photographed. She never cried and never fussed and it was her nap time! She’s an angel!!

Sisters. There’s nothing like having a best friend that will always be by your side.

Thank you so much for spending your morning with me! It was so great to see you all again and meet your adorable new addition!!

Harford County – [Family Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2014/11/1622 I have had the distinct privilege of capturing this beautiful family over the last 7 years. They were some of my very first clients and I absolutely adore them. When I first started taking pictures of this family there was only one sweet little girl and now there are THREE! They are all so adorable. I love the playful interaction between the sisters. Little Miss W kept everyone on their toes and she also kept us cracking up! Aren’t these ladies gorgeous?!?

We always meet at their family farm in Harford County but this is the first time we have met at sunset. It was extraordinary. I love all of the perfect locations and the serene backgrounds. Have I mentioned that I LOVE this family too? They could all be models! Our last stop for the session was the spot where mom and dad got married 12 years ago. It was a perfect place to capture a few of my favorite shots from the day.

Thank you so much for meeting me on a PERFECT October night! I hope you enjoy your previews!

Paul & Abby – [Caboose Farm] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2014/10/1604 Paul and Abby met in kindergarten. You read that right! They started dating in high school and now, eight years later, they joined their lives together forever through marriage. Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of the two of them. Both Paul and Abby were perfectly calm throughout each moment of their day. They laughed, they relaxed, they enjoyed every moment.

They started their marriage at the beautiful Caboose Farm just outside of Thurmont, Maryland. It is nestled in the hills of the Cactocin Mountains. The beautiful fall colors surrounded them and it was breathtakingly gorgeous.

Abby got ready in a stunning old farm house surrounded by all of her bridesmaids and her adorable flower girls. Abby is such a gorgeous bride!

Paul and his groomsmen are hilarious! They are some seriously funny guys and they’ve all been friends for so long that they each know how to crack each other up! If you didn’t know them you would assume that Paul has 4 brothers. Paul joked that he wanted at least one image to look like a cheesy CD album cover. Paul, I hope you can pick one! It will be a hard decision! HA!

Enter the bug. Paul and Abby have an adorable 1972 VW bug. It was the theme for their wedding and it was so adorable! Abby’s dad brought her to the ceremony site in the bug and Paul and Abby drove away in the bug right after they walked down the aisle! So fun! The ceremony site was an old foundation – symbolic and beautiful.

03 Right after the wedding Paul, Abby, and I snuck away to grab some shots of the two of them while their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour. I love these two images. Abby, you are gorgeous!!

04 These two are so comfortable together. Their relationship is so genuine and they are so happy together.

Every step that we took was another amazing spot to photograph. What a perfect day!

We also grabbed some shots of the wedding party. The flower girls had everyone laughing! This group was so, SO funny! Don’t worry, I got plenty of nice, normal shots too but I couldn’t resist sharing this one!

Details. Details. Every little detail was made with love. Abby made paper and burlap flowers for the tables. She made them out of pages from Paul’s favorite book (To Kill A Mockingbird). The mother of the groom made ALL of the cupcakes AND the cake! The family came together and enjoyed a cooking night before the wedding to make the caramel favors for all of the guests. Abby’s co-workers made all of the incredible centerpieces for each table. Each one was unique and amazing! Paul and Abby are well loved and their wedding was full of examples of their love.

Let the party begin! The laughs continued and the guests all enjoyed a fun night of eating and dancing to celebrate the new couple.

I have to end with one of my favorite pictures of the day. Perfection.

10 Paul and Abby, congratulations on your marriage! Thank you so much for choosing me to be part of your special day. It was an honor to capture your love.

Throwback Thursday! Family Session https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2014/8/1587 I’ve always said that watching children and families grow in front of my lens is one of my greatest joys. This session was a spectacular example of why I love capturing images for families.

7 years ago when I first took this family’s pictures these sweet kids were adorable, fun loving, and sweet. Today they are much the same but now they are adults (or almost adults). They are each so intelligent, well spoken, and wonderful people. It’s fantastic to know them.

Let me not forget the mom and dad who helped grow these amazing people. I’m not just saying this – these two haven’t aged one bit in 7 years! These two have lived their lives in service to God, their family, and to everyone they know. They are inspirational. If you know them, you know there aren’t enough words to describe the impact that they have had in the lives of so many people.

Now the whole – photogenic family! They are each as wonderful as they look!

Thank you all for meeting me! Your family has always held a very special place in my family’s heart and in our family’s story.

I hope you enjoy your preview!

Heather & Matt – {Timonium Wedding} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/9/1557 The first of September. It’s more than just a date – it’s a milestone: first date, engagement, wedding. It was a beautiful day and perfect representation of Heather and Matt. Here’s a preview of some of the highlights of the day.

Getting ready

Have no fear, Superman was there!02 I know that I probably sound like a broken record but I ADORE first looks. I can’t get enough. My favorite images ALWAYS come from first looks – they melt me. Look at the love in their eyes!!!

03 Okay, wipe the tears out of your eyes! I just love it!

Here’s a picture of the bridal party – lovely!

04 The ceremony. It was beautiful and meaningful.

052 Let’s not forget the party!!! The reception was a blast and everyone of all ages enjoyed themselves!

Congratulations Heather & Matt! Thank you for choosing me to capture the memories of your first day as a married couple! May you have a lifetime of laughter and smiles!

Jen & Phil – {Baltimore Wedding} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/8/1547 Last Saturday I had the honor of photographing the first day of Jennifer and Phil’s wedding. They are an adorable couple and they are just perfect together. They were surrounded by their closest family and friends for an evening of love and laughter at the Four Seasons in downtown Baltimore. It was an amazing evening – wonderful in every way.

First, the girls getting ready – don’t miss dad’s first reaction, priceless.

Then for the groomsmen. After finally figuring out the ties they were nothing but laughs!

The ceremony. Mr & Mrs.!!

Formal shots after the ceremony. These two are so in love.

The reception followed with a dinner at the spectacular Wit & Wisdom in the Four Seasons Hotel. The staff, service, and food was incredible. A good time was had by all!

Jen and Phil, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your beautiful day. Your wedding day was such a perfect reflection of the two of you and your love for each other. I’m honored that you chose me to capture the images from your most treasured day.

Best always,

Meant to Be – {Havre De Grace Sunrise Maternity Session} https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/8/1538 This morning – at sunrise – I had the opportunity to meet this beautiful couple.

They had their first date almost 9 years ago in this exact location so they thought it would be the perfect spot for her maternity session. Amber, you are totally gorgeous!! I love the way you two smile at one another – you just light up!

From high school sweethearts to mommy and daddy! It doesn’t get much sweeter than that.

Baby boy due in just a few weeks!

I’ll end with my favorite of the day. Love.

Summer Sun – [Harford County Engagement Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/6/1526 Saturday night I had the opportunity to photograph such a fun and beautiful couple. Eric and Christina are getting married in 2014 and I am thrilled to be their photographer for their big day. These two have been together for a long time and it shows. Not because they are old or boring but because their love is deep and they are so comfortable and real with each other.

I love catching Eric in a grin – Christina knows how to make him smile.

The sun was setting and provided us with a beautiful warm glow for the evening. I always suggest the hour before sunset to everyone – it’s the best! Love this one.

Christina – you are gorgeous!! I love the way you smile at your man. So in love!

03 Our session was at Annie’s Playground. If you’ve ever been there you know that it is a kid’s dream but there are also beautiful fields and stunning scenery right across the parking lot. The backdrop was perfect for this handsome couple.04

I love old barns and with Christina’s adorable cowboy boots how could we resist?

05 I’ll end with one of my favorites. The warm light and the warm love – a perfect combination.

Thanks for a wonderful night! I hope you enjoy your preview!

2 Years Old! https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/5/1516 I’m not exactly sure how this cutie pie got to be 2 years old already but I love every bit of her adorable personality and her cute, CUTE face. I have to say that 2 and 3 year olds are some of my favorite human beings on the earth. They are so busy all of the time and capturing a picture is not only a challenge but also a fantastic accomplishment. This sweet girl is very busy but she can’t keep that cuteness away from the camera – LOVE her!

There’s something about the cuddles. They’re sweeter too; at this age they are definitely intentional and very fleeting so every second of every cuddle is such a cherished time.

“I do it.” If you’ve ever been around a 2 year old for more than five minutes you will have heard this phrase. It’s what makes this age endearing and also time consuming :)icon_smile These two just make me chuckle – so cute!!

Cousin love. Sweet 6 month old cousin joined us to capture some sweet cousin smiles and giggles.

043 I love this image – it captures her so perfectly.

Let’s not forget Mommy & Daddy! I love this family!

First Comes Love… https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/5/1506 Then Comes (35 Years of) Marriage…

Joe & Debi have been married almost 35 years – it was definitely time to capture some beautiful images of their love and what their love has created. I took so many pictures of the two of them and didn’t have to pose them once. Their love is inspiring and so genuine.

Then Comes 2 Beautiful Daughters (and their handsome husbands)…

Two daughters, two happy marriages, two adoring husbands, four very happy people.

022 But That’s Not All!! Four Adorable Grandchildren Are the Fantastic Reward…

These 4 are so sweet and funny and have such a great time together. They spend a lot of time together and they are as close as siblings – seeing them made me miss my cousins!

35 Years + 2 Daughters + 4 Grandchildren = 1 Happy Family

And a photogenic family at that!

I had so much fun capturing a glimpse into this sweet family. Despite the raindrops that wanted to be part of our day, everyone made the most of it and it was a very fun morning! I love these smiles – so precious!

Thank you ALL so much for sharing your morning with me – it was a joy to see your family’s love and laughter.

Perfect Princess https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/5/1495 On Tuesday I had the opportunity to meet one of the most beautiful babies I have ever, EVER laid eyes on. She is perfect: a head full of dark hair, sweet chubby cheeks, a little belly, and huge big bright brown eyes. What a beauty.

Here she is in all of her baby perfection:

Of course she got her looks from somewhere – her gorgeous parents! There is something so touching about the way parents look at their little miracle. It’s breathtaking. The love in this family is so tender and sweet.

Mommy’s joy – I love this one.

I think we have a Daddy’s girl on our hands. When it came to swaddling, soothing, and bouncing Daddy should get a medal!

Is there anything better than a ruffled baby bum?

I’ll end with my favorite picture of the day. I’m pretty sure the saying above their headboard says it all. “And they lived happily ever after.”

06 Thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture this incredibly special time for your family. It’s an honor to see your love. I adore your gorgeous baby girl!

Matt & Heather = Perfect Timing [Engagement Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/5/1485 Matt and Heather’s story is all about perfect timing. They came into each others lives at just the right moment. In fact, almost too perfect. Could this be? Can love be this real? This true? This perfect? Absolutely, yes.

One year after their first date Matt proposed (and she said yes!). One year from their engagement they will be married. The timing is perfect.

Their love is palpable and their laughter is contagious!! I knew this session was going to be fun and fabulous when this was the first image I captured:

01 As much as they enjoy every moment together they are also so tender and sweet. Melt.

Oooo La La!! ;)icon_wink

Let’s not forget to give Matt an extra pat on the back for his choice of bling – well done Matt!

I’ll close with two of my favorites. I couldn’t pick just one. Which is your favorite?

Matt and Heather, thank you for sharing your evening with me. It brought me so much joy to see your love. You are so comfortable in front of the camera because what you have is so real. I’m honored you chose me to capture your love. I hope you enjoy your preview!

One Year Later – [Harford County] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2013/2/1471 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love this family. It seems like yesterday that I took this picture:

Same boy – same couch – one year later.

What a big, beautiful boy he as become!!

Sparkly blue eyes and the cuddliest personality. Heart-breaker!

I love these next two – probably my favorites. They just show his true self SO well!

Ready for this? One year ago:

Did you just laugh out loud? I do! Every. Single. Time! Now, only 3 pounds separates these brothers!

And on that note, let’s not forget that adorable and handsome big brother!

Christmas Cutie – [Baltimore County Family Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/12/1455 Tis the season! It is such a pleasure to be invited in to my clients’ homes. This time of year makes it even more special. All of the decorations, lights, presents, and smiles of joy are so exciting!

I typically end with my favorite image but I’m pretty sure the first image is my favorite from today – SO adorable!

She absolutely LOVED to help decorate the tree and even with no hooks she was able to get some of the ornaments to stay in the tree!

Let’s not forget a kid favorite – the lights! Look at the joy on her sweet face!

Here’s the first shot of the family images – perfect!

Cutest little chair – mom and dad found it at a yard sale and it is a definite favorite!

Even new baby cousin got in on a few shots – so tiny and so cute! These two are going to be like their mommies – best friends.

We ended with a game of ring-around-the-rosy! Such a fun session!

013 Aren’t they the cutest?! I love seeing them all together! Baby girl had everyone cracking up with her silly sounds and sweet talking!

Daddy & Mommy – gorgeous couple!

Red balloons to celebrate! I love this one – she’s sooo sweet!

043 Here’s my favorite of the day. Too perfect!

Perfect Trio – [Harford County Family Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/11/1435 I love this family. Really. I just adore them. They are gorgeous models AND they are incredibly sweet and kind. I was so excited to see them again this year and I couldn’t believe how much they’ve changed and grown! Just look at these blond beauties!

I couldn’t get over how much little sister has changed. Last year she wasn’t sure about smiling but this year she couldn’t keep the smile off her face and I LOVED it! Such beautiful girls!

What’s better than 2 beautiful girls?! THREE beautiful girls! A lot has changed in a year! Sweet baby number three completes the trifecta of cuteness! I love that precious smile!

I assure you, this is a real family. I didn’t hire models for this session! So gorgeous!

3 dolls.

The big sisters absolutely adore their baby sister and I just adore these images. True love.

I’ll end with my favorite session from the day. Every time I see it I smile. I hope you do too!

Tiniest Little Princess – [Newborn] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/11/1424 A couple of days ago I had the opportunity to take pictures of the tiniest little princess I have ever photographed. Her birth weight was 4 pounds 15 ounces. At our session she was all of 15 days old and just over 5 pounds. She is so petite and so sweet. I loved every moment. Her mom and dad are first time parents but they take everything in stride and act like seasoned parents!

So little.

I love sleepy smiles and cute little cheeks.

Here’s a little perspective. And no, daddy is not a giant – baby is just THAT small.

I love this sweet picture. She knows her mommy – look at those bright beautiful eyes.

Party of 3!

Let’s not forget about the furry brothers. Love this one – such good dogs!

This is my favorite of the day. So perfectly made. So much love.

Welcome Home – [Navy Homecoming] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/11/1398 This Saturday I had the incredible honor to witness a man being united with his family. After 8 (long) months away at sea daddy returned home. The day was incredibly moving. The emotions ran deep and were right at the surface at the same moment. Daddy was welcomed by all of the most important people in his life. He is a daddy, husband, brother, son, and hero.

I typically narrate my posts but I feel like the images in this series speak more than my words can express. Enjoy, and grab a tissue.

Fall + Fun Family = Fabulous! https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/10/1381 Public Service Announcement:

Last year I received a Christmas card from some dear friends with this picture…

I absolutely love my friends but I was immediately sad with this picture, not because they’re Bears fans, but because they are a beautiful family with 3 adorable little girls and I could barely see them with the dark lighting and fuzzy focus.

Needless to say, I was BEYOND thrilled when they asked me to take their family pictures this year! YAY! I’m excited to help all of their friends and family see them on this year’s Christmas card! We spent the most beautiful afternoon at Irvine Nature Center. We explored a bit and easily found some beautiful spots for their family pictures.

Here’s where it all began. It sounds trite but it’s so true, “all because two people fell in love…” 8 years of love and laughter.

Look at their 3 beautiful daughters. They are such sweet girls too. I love this picture, I feel like it captures each girl’s personality in just a glimpse.

Here’s a closer look at each beauty. Love them.

blog-031 Such a sweet family.

I love this one. Maybe my favorite of the day (but it’s hard to pick)! I love the color, the smiles, and the people in the picture.

Thank you so much for spending your afternoon with me. I cherish our time together! I hope that you enjoy your preview and I can’t WAIT to see your Christmas card this year!

Much love,

Adorable Kids, Perfect Day – [Harford County Family Session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/10/1368 I spent a beautiful Saturday morning with one of my favorites! I love this family and their sweet guy. They have a gorgeous home and today we really enjoyed their beautiful backyard. We did a bit of a scavenger hunt for all of the beautiful fall leaves.

Love this sweet family and their furry brother too! Look at those colors!

Such handsome boy!

He was definitely into exploring all of the creatures of his yard, which makes perfect sense because he’s going to be a Paleontologist! Such smart kid.

We also had a special family member join us! Nothing like cousin love – so cute!

This little doll was definitely a model girl! So SO adorable!

Strike a pose!

I had such a fun morning! Thank you for sharing your home, your family, and your Saturday with me!

I hope you enjoy your preview!

3 & 6 – [My Beautiful Babies] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/9/1359 As ridiculous as it sounds – I have to schedule portrait sessions for my kids! Just like everything in my life, if it’s not on the calendar, it won’t happen. My sweet girls have their birthday in the same week so it always works out really well for pictures! I absolutely love the stage that my girls are in right now. They love to play, laugh, sing, dance, wrestle, and pretend with each other. I am so blessed to be their mommy.

My beautiful babies.

My oldest. Now, officially a kindergartener. She is such a smart cookie. Getting library books is like Christmas morning for her! She’s fiesty and sensitive and a really good girl. I am so proud of her. She’s also a striking beauty. Those blue eyes – they knock me over every time!

My baby. Really, as sweet as they come. She’s silly, playful, and so sweet. Have I mentioned sweet? Make me melt kind of sweet. And adorable. So adorable.

Outtakes — I don’t typically include them in my clients’ galleries but I couldn’t resist on my own. This kid makes the best. faces. ever. She cracks us all up with one glance. Such a silly goose!!

My girls love each other. They miss each other during the day and they love to be together every moment they can. Wow, I love them so much!

Here’s my favorite of the day. Both Kevin and I couldn’t pull ourselves from this picture. We love it and we think it’s a perfect reflection of our girls.

Thanks for indulging me and happy birthday my loves!

6 Days, 5 Pounds [newborn perfection] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/9/1350 There’s nothing like a brand new baby. Curled up, sleepy, adorable. I had the opportunity to visit a newly formed family of 4! They welcomed their sweet daughter into the world just 6 days before our session. They were all so sweet and I love the images we were able to capture.

One of my favorite spots to do family pictures with little ones is on mom and dad’s bed. It’s a place of cozy comfort and it’s a special place where everyone likes to be. I love this one.

Beautiful big sister is exactly 2.5 years older than her baby sister and I love the moment of tenderness between them – holding hands.

Oh the basket. I love the basket. Mommy & Daddy bought this basket when they were just dating. They loved the look of it an thought it would be a great first piece for their home. I don’t think they envisioned it being put to such a great use. I LOVE this.

Sweet baby girl is so incredibly tiny and delicate. She is so gorgeous and so petite not to mention incredibly docile and content.

This picture is the reason why having newborn pictures early is the best. That curled up, cuddled position lasts such a short time. So adorable.

When we took her out of the basket she was still exhausted. Being a newborn is hard work. She cuddled up with mommy and went right back to sleep! Look at those long legs!

Last but not least. I feel like this picture shows just how tiny she is – these little owls will watch her grow and grown until she outgrows this changing table. What a doll.

Thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture this precious time in your lives. I loved meeting you all! I hope you enjoy your preview!

[Joseph] – North Harford Senior https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/9/1341 I had the absolute pleasure to photograph Joseph and his family for his senior pictures. I love seniors. It’s such an honor to be able to catch a glimpse of the person that they are and the person they are becoming. Joseph is passionate about hunting. He hunts often and he hunts at his home. His family has a beautiful acreage in Northern Harford county so location was an easy choice for this session! First we did the family pictures. I love the picture of Joseph’s parents – I caught them off guard and I love the genuine love between them. Joseph’s sister is a beautiful model as well!

Next came Joseph’s turn. He took me on a tour of his favorite spots to hunt. Disclaimer: no animals were harmed in the making of this session :)icon_smile

blog-02 I wasn’t hurt either! Joseph shoots primarily with a bow and arrow – the skill it takes to hunt with a bow and arrow just baffles me. Check out the intensity!

Here is Joseph up in his stand. He has spent countless, patient, quiet hours in this stand so I thought it was appropriate to have a few pictures to honor this special place in his life.

I really love this next image, it might just be my favorite of the day. Love that grin!

Joseph has already started college classes and is hoping to study engineering. He loves to build and make things. It will be exciting to see all of the great things he accomplishes.

Thank you Joseph and family for sharing your day with me. I loved the peacefulness of your life. It is a beautiful thing.

[Tenley] – 9 months https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/9/1324 wiggly toes, sweet grins, pulling up to standing, talking sounds, mama, dada, waving, clapping, cuddles, joy…

Sweet Tenley is 9 months old. She has changed so much in 3 months! She has such a sweet personality and is such a doll baby! We met at Broom’s Bloom Dairy in Harford County for the beautiful country setting and the last of the beautiful sunflowers.

She’s getting so big and look at all of that hair!

01 Just as sweet as can be! She gave smiles so easily and loved peek-a-boo!

Tenley always loves a good song from Nana!

So adorable!

04 Please prepare yourself. My heart nearly stops with the cuteness of this next picture – probably my favorite of the day…

Gorgeous Mommy and sweet kisses.

Oh those bright eyes and cute cheeks!

A precious flower.

This one just makes me smile. I couldn’t get over Tenley’s wiggly toes and I love how cute they are in this picture! So sweet!!

Thank you so much for meeting and allowing me to capture this sweet time. I can’t wait to share our next images with my readers – I just love your sweet family.

A Havre de Grace Wedding [Lauren & Joe] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/8/1316 This past Saturday Kevin and I had the honor to witness the beautiful marriage of two fantastic people – Lauren & Joe. You may remember them from their engagement session. Their wedding and reception were at the beautiful Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Lauren and Joe enjoyed an incredible day surrounded by their family and friends.

Below are a few images of the preparation.

012 My favorite part of the day is always the first look. I love the special moment when the bride and groom get to lay eyes on each other for the first time on their wedding day – there’s just nothing like it. I love the expression on their faces – pure happiness. These two together know how to laugh and have fun – they are such a great couple!

After the first look Lauren took a special moment before the formal pictures to give her dad a first look as well. This moment was so special. Daddy and daughter – so sweet. Check out Joe’s jacket – even his clothes say who he’s marrying!

The ceremony was a meaningful and special service. Congratulations – it’s official!

Let the party begin! All the guests enjoyed a delicious meal followed by dancing and yummy cake – although some of it went on Lauren and Joe’s face!

Lauren and Joe, thank you so much for choosing us to capture the moments of your special day! It was beautiful! Congratulations!

Special thanks to the all amazing vendors!

Baby Perfection – [Washington, DC] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/8/1306 About 6 weeks ago I had the opportunity to take some maternity pictures of a beautiful soon to be mommy.

A few short days ago I was able to visit their home and take some pictures of their absolutely perfect 4 week old baby girl. Newborns just make my heart flutter. I love their tiny yawns and peaceful deep sleep. This little girl was no exception – she was a fantastic model and was just amazing all morning!

When I say baby perfection I really mean it. This sweet baby girl was born on her due date, at home (like her mommy wanted), and in just 7 hours of labor. The entire time I was at their home I only heard her whimper once or twice. She was so laid back and sweet! Check out these tiny little toes.

Her mommy and daddy know how blessed they are. What a gorgeous family!

Cuddle time with and talking with daddy!

So attentive to mommy – I just love this one!

I’ll end with this one. Daddy said that that this was how their nights really went! Ha! A baby and her 3 dog siblings all cuddled in bed together!

Thanks so much for inviting me to your beautiful home! I am so honored to capture these precious early moments of your sweet daughter’s life.

Happy Birthday! https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/8/1297 I had a fun time meeting with an adorable family last night at the Towson Courthouse. I couldn’t believe how much this sweet girl has changed in just 3 months! She’s gone from baby to toddler and we had a blast!

How old are you?

As we got started taking pictures some ladies that were also in the gardens taking pictures. They came over and gave us their balloons. They were multi-colored but in black and white they match perfectly! One of the balloons even had a “1″ on it. Those are just things you can’t plan – too cool!

There’s something about 1 year olds that I just love. Their personality just pops and they are so full of expressions. Here are just a few of my favorites:

I also love toddling. Little toes making their way in the world.

Love this family. Such genuine love.

I think this is my favorite image of the session. I love how relaxed and simple it is. It’s them at their best: happy, healthy, together.

Thanks so much for meeting me tonight and happy birthday sweet girl!

Old Friends https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/7/1288 Make new friends but keep the old; one is sliver and the other gold.

This sweet family was one of my earliest clients. They are friends of the family and it was so good to reconnect and see how much they’ve changed. They are all still as gorgeous as ever. We had a fantastic time at the beautiful secret spot, Double Rock Park, in Parkville. It had so many beauty spots it was fantastic.

Here was them almost 5 years ago.

Here they are today. Three stunning sisters…

Here’s where they get their beauty (no offense Alex) :)icon_smile

They were such wonderful models and up for whatever!

Thanks for a great morning sweet friends!

Why I Love Photography… https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/6/1283 The images I capture are a way to pause a moment in time; a way to remember things as they were. Almost exactly 1 year ago I was visiting family and friends in Iowa for my parents’ 35th anniversary. We planned a picture day and I was (of course) the photographer. I enjoyed the day so much. My family was relaxed and just hanging out and enjoying each other. When I saw my Grandpa laugh I grabbed my camera and got a quick shot of him. I don’t remember what he was laughing at but I do remember thinking, “I got him!” I captured a true picture of my Grandpa enjoying the day and loving his family. It is one of my favorite pictures.

Tonight, about 2 hours ago, my Grandpa passed away. He lived a full life; he was an extremely hard worker. He loved to garden, to sharpen tools, and to smoke his pipe. Earlier today his favorite singing group from church came to sing his favorite songs to him while he was in his hospice bed. He was so loved. Tonight he was surrounded by loving friends and family.  I am so thankful and feel so blessed to know and learn from my Grandpa.

I am also thankful for this image, this glimpse in time. A time to remember the laughs, smiles, and joys of the day. I’m thankful for my Grandpa.

[Lydia & Blake] – Bel Air Wedding https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/6/1269 If rain on your wedding day is good luck then a tornado must mean wedded bliss forever! It was a joy to spend the day with two people who are meant to be. From the start, everyone who met these two knew that they were perfect for each other.

The morning started with Lydia preparing for her day at her parents’ home. It was a special time of girl bonding and beautifying. Laughter all around.

When wedding planning first started Lydia and Blake weren’t certain about doing a first look but as the weeks got closer they decided it would be the best choice to make their day go smoothly. In hindsight it was the perfect choice. Their first look was a time for them to pause and share a moment together. I love the look in their eyes.

After the first look we were able to do all of the formal portraits for the day. Again, we were so thankful to beat the rain (and tornado). The bridal party was a fun and funny group! Their laughter was contagious. The beautiful setting was also the place of the reception, The Liriodendron in Bel Air, Maryland.

The wedding was held at Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland. Both Lydia and Blake are extremely close with their families and they paid special tribute to each one. The ceremony was full of laughter, tears of joy, and touching moments. It was a perfect reflection of Lydia and Blake.

Before leaving the church a tornado hit less than a mile away so the guests were able to sit and catch up before heading to the reception. Although everything was a bit more wet than planned, the party was great and everyone enjoyed themselves.

preview-5 What a joy it is to watch two people start their lives together. Lydia and Blake, may you be blessed richly in your new life together!

[Tenley] – 6 months https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/6/1258 If her face looks familiar you’re not crazy. You’ve seen her before, here. It is one of my greatest joys as a photographer to be able to watch little ones grow up before my lens. In just a few months it’s amazing to see how much Tenley has grown. She is still such an absolute sweet baby and SO adorable!

She can sit up by herself but a little extra support helps (and who can resist a baby in a basket?!).

Precious profile. Tenley is a little peanut but she still has cheeks and that makes me very happy!

Happy with her beautiful Mommy. Daddy is away serving our country and these sessions are a gift to him – what beauties he has!

Isn’t she stunning? Those bright blue eyes and sweet, soft features!

*side note: I never edit, sharpen, or re-touch eyes. Those blue eyes are all natural and all Tenley, gorgeous!

I think this one is my favorite from the day. So sweet, just adoring each other!

Tenley was able to sit in the grass all by herself for the first time ever and she loved it! I’m pretty sure that Daddy is going to have an outdoors girl on his hand – get ready for some camping trips!

A mother’s tender love.

Thank you for spending you morning with me. I cherish these times! I hope you enjoy your preview!

[Doll Babies] – Family Pictures https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/5/1247 I had the opportunity on Saturday to meet some new friends! This sweet family joined me at Arcadia Farms on a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning. I couldn’t get over the cuteness of the girls – they were just the perfect little models. They are so well-behaved and have such good natures; we had a lot of fun (or at least I did)!

We had some helpers making our day fun as well. Miss Kate and Miss Ann Marie were terrific hosts and they were even musical assistants to me! In this sweet family picture I’m pretty sure they were on the second verse of “Do You Know the Muffin Man?” – we ALL enjoyed their singing!

This session was a Mother’s Day gift. What a beautiful Mommy with her adorable baby girls!

Doll. Baby. I adore this sweet baby girl; she is so mild mannered and sweet. And I love those sweet cheeks!

Sisters, these two together are the sweetest!

Can you find the big girl in this picture? Those curls remind me of Shirley Temple; I think she may have the personality too!

“Children of the same family, the same blood, with the same first associations and habits, have some means of enjoyment in their power, which no subsequent connections can supply… ” ~Jane Austen

No one could make the baby laugh quite like her big sister. “Buggie, Buggie, Buggie” The mutual joy was beyond precious.

If you’ve followed my work you know that I love simple, crisp, timeless images. Something spoke to me in several of the images from this session. Maybe it was the historic setting, or seeing old family pictures, or maybe even my subjects. There was almost an antique feel to several of these images. You know, those old, yellowed pictures that you treasure forever? I wanted to simulate that look in a few images.

Precious girl.

The last preview is my favorite from the day. I honestly feel like these two look like little dolls dressed up for the day on the porch. I kind of want to hang it on my own mantle in an antique frame – would that be weird? :)icon_smile

Thank you so much for spending your morning with me and for sharing your beautiful family with me. Thank you for choosing me to capture this precious time in your lives. What a joy!

Moments https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/5/1232 I adore this family. For our session we met at portion of the Red Run Stream Valley Trail and we all loved the peaceful, beautiful surroundings. It was a pleasure to snap a few shots for this great family.

The two boys are literally night and day. Blond hair, blue eyes and brown hair, brown eyes. Their personalities are very different as well but they are both so sweet and have the most beautiful smiles!

A brother is a friend given by Nature.  ~Jean Baptiste Legouve

There’s really nothing more precious than snuggles. Especially squishy baby snuggles.

How do you make a 5 year old boy smile? Tell jokes, of course! (The less they make sense – the better!!)

I think these next two may be my favorite of the day. There was something just so genuine about these moments. Sharing in a hug, a laugh, a moment together.blog-08-494x370

Here’s my favorite family picture of the day. I love when a family has fun together and this family definitely knows how to have fun!

I’m so thankful to have spent the morning with you and I know our family is sad that you are moving but I think this quote says it best: “Don’t be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.” – R.Bach

You are a joy and I am thankful for our friendship! I hope you enjoy your preview!

[9 months of precious] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/3/1219 Today I had the opportunity to go to little Miss N’s house. She is an adorable, happy, and precious 9 (almost 10) month old. She has the sweetest little personality. She is easy-going and is so fun!

We started with her adorable Easter outfit. There’s something so sweet about little girls all dolled up. I would say she is definitely a doll baby!

I have NEVER, really never, seen a baby love my camera so much! She just wanted to taste it and play with it. She thought it was SO funny!

Every time I get to be around Miss N everyone always talks about her eyelashes. They are amazing – and they’re genetic! Mommy and Aunt have the same eyelashes. If I didn’t know better I would think they had false lashes put on – so pretty!!

After a change of clothes I brought out the girly toys but who needs a necklace or bracelets when you’re 9 months old? They quickly became a favorite treat – ha!

The next one is my favorite of the day. I just feel like it captures her: her beauty, her personality, her sweetness. Love.

Last but not least the sweet innocence – drool on the chin and baby blues – does it get any better?!

062-494x370 Thank you so much for inviting me into your home and allowing me to capture your precious baby girl. I hope you enjoy your preview!

[Robyn + James = Tenley] – 3 months https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/3/1207 Do you remember this gorgeous couple from a few months ago?

Fall’s maternity session led to an adorable December baby. Their sweet girl is now 3 months old and is as cute as you’d expect her too be (and she’s so sweet too)!! I love these first two – it’s such a rough life being a baby!

Perfection. Look at those precious eyelashes. What a beauty.

Doll baby.

Bright-eyed. Such pretty blue eyes!

Check out that sweet little smirk! HA! Even a dimple!

A well loved baby and an over the moon mommy.

Nana’s girl. One of my favorite smiles of the day!

Tenley’s daddy is currently deployed in the Navy but we need to have some shots with him too (in her camo of course)! She was mesmerized by his picture – sweet daddy’s girl.

So sweet. I can’t wait to see these three reunited.

Thanks for sharing a special afternoon with me – I can’t wait to see how much sweet Ten has grown in the next 3 months! Enjoy your preview!

90 = 4 + 9 + 15 https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/3/1180 90 years old. 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Virginia Dresher celebrated her 90th birthday the same way she has celebrated every day of her life – surrounded by the people she loves. In her 90 years she has had an enormous impact on everyone she has met. She is kind, giving, and generous. She is a wonderful woman and it was a treasure to be part of this special day.

Every detail was perfectly done. Virginia’s grand-daughter, Susan and her friend Jamie are starting an event planning business, Lustre Events. Based on the job they did at this party I would highly recommend them. Susan compiled almost 100 memories by family members and also gathered thousands of pictures. Every detail was elegant and perfect.

In a family with so many wonderful people it’s no surprise that there was a young baking prodigy. Great-granddaughter Rachel has a knack for making beautiful cakes and today she made a gorgeous cake for the occasion.

Everyone got their moment with Grandma even the tiniest!

041 After pictures the family enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the executive chef at the Hilton Garden Inn in White Marsh. It was a tasty as it was beautiful!

food There was even time for some fun outside for the Great-grandkids!

Normal Day… https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/2/1149 Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.  Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.  Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.  Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return. –Mary Jean Iron

This is the photographer’s winter slow season. For photographers like myself that prefer to shoot outside, there’s a good month (or 3) when there is time to pause, reflect, and enjoy every normal day. Thanks for indulging me – here’s our normal day…

The day starts early for my oldest. She definitely got a recessive gene… she’s up early at her “art studio” making creations for all of us. Love it.

I believe that at least half of our day is spent in this position. On the couch reading. No wonder why my girls are so smart – their heads always in the pages.

The rest of the day is filled with a whole lot of cuteness… I may be biased but I think they’re adorable :)icon_smile

Every normal day ends with our favorite thing. Tickle time! Daddy loves playing “wrestling flower” – yes, that’s totally a term made up by a dad of 2 girls! HA!

A Love Story – [Lydia & Blake] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2012/1/1137 Everyone who met them knew they belonged together.

Lydia met Blake when he was interviewing for a job at her home church.

Fast forward to this summer… the church needed summer help and Lydia, who was home after graduating college, was the perfect fit. Blake and Lydia worked together every day this summer. They saw each other work through difficult situations and they saw each other’s strengths (and weaknesses too). They liked what they saw. They were a perfect compliment to each other. On a trip this summer Blake saw Lydia as a perfect support at work and wondered if maybe there could be something more.

As the summer neared to a close Blake was confident in his feelings for Lydia. She felt the same way.

They rang in the New Year with a new, beautiful, shiny ring and a “YES!” Now begins a new chapter. The chapter where they share with the world the love that is theirs. They are giddy to be with each other.  Their laughter, their hugs, their kisses, their joy was pure, happy – a wonderful thing to witness.

We enjoyed a gorgeous January day (I’m not being sarcastic) at the Liriodenron. If you’ve never been to visit please do. It is a gorgeous public mansion/historic site located in the center of Bel Air. A true gem.

Ahh! I love this! Lydia and Blake beneath the wisteria. Magic!

They are naturally their best when they are together. I asked them just to “be” – and they were. It was perfect.

I love this one too (alright, alright, I love them all)! They are so happy it just oozes from them. Their love is so true.

My favorite. Genuine love. It’s a beautiful thing.

Can you feel the love?

Congratulations Lydia and Blake! It was an honor to capture some images of your love. You are truly a very special couple. The love that you have for one another is such a joy. Enjoy your preview!

Meant to Be – [Lauren & Joe] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/12/1114 Sometimes you just know when love is meant to be.

It seems that with these two,  love was just around the corner. Lauren and Joe grew up in the same area and traveled within the same circles but never met. One of Lauren’s closest friends is Joe’s cousin. It wasn’t until Lauren moved to Tennessee that her friend decided  Joe and Lauren finally HAD to meet. Lauren was reluctant but finally agreed; love was meant to be. That was almost exactly a year ago.

Just before Thanksgiving Joe surprised Lauren (which is not easily done) with a ring for her left ring finger. She said “yes”! Now they are planning their forever. Sometimes you just know when love is meant to be.

We met at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Maryland, for their (very chilly) engagement session. Joe has always had a deep love for baseball and they went on several dates to watch the Ironbirds, so this seemed like the perfect spot.

01 One of the themes of their session and their love is definitely laughter. They absolutely love to make each other laugh. Their love is palpable through their laughter.

Their seats.

I’m certain that this dugout has never seen kissing! They are so adorable!

Can’t you just feel their love?!

Alright Joe, here it is. The proof that you’re totally, absolutely, smitten. I love this picture, it’s one of my favorites from the session. Lauren, you are gorgeous!

We had an amazing time going through all of the ins and outs of the stadium with special thanks to Lauren’s uncle Tony (thank you Tony!!). Cal Ripken’s assistant, Glen, had the incredible idea to go to Cal Sr.’s field next door for a bird’s eye view of the field that is the replica of Orioles stadium (Camden Yards). So cool!

I’ll finish with this picture. I love it. I love the way they love each other. I love the way they laugh and the way they look at each other. I love when love is meant to be.

Thank you Lauren and Joe for choosing me to capture your love. You’re both fabulous!

An Elegant New Jersey Wedding ~ [Robyn & Wes] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/12/1092 Robyn & Wes – two people who belong together. Her elegance, his charm, their warm kindness – their love is undeniable. Kevin and I had the opportunity to witness and photograph one of the most beautiful wedding days I have ever experienced. To watch two people experience the day they have planned for and dreamed of was an true honor not only for myself but also for their loved ones and closest friends. The day was seamless. The bride was relaxed. The groom enjoyed every moment. Their friends and family were in awe of their love. It was a perfect wedding day.

The bride prepared by going to Salon V for both her hair and make-up. Everyone there remarked on how relaxed and how elegant she looked. One woman stopped me to tell me she had never seen such a beautiful bride.

While Robyn was busy at the salon Wes was busy hanging with his guys. He and his friends were always having a good time and their laughter is contagious. I can personally vouch for that!

Robyn returned to the hotel to finish the final touches with her girls. I’ve never met a blue box I didn’t like (neither has Wes) :)icon_smile

blog03 Robyn, you are seriously stunning. Gorgeous. Elegant. An unbelievably beautiful bride.

Robyn picked the perfect touches for everything; simple and elegant. The stunning flowers were done by the artists at Perry’s Florist.

The handsome groom. Debonaire.

The first look; below are some of my favorite images of the day. I think the first look was one of Robyn and Wes’ favorite parts of the day as well. The first look is the moment when the groom first sees his bride. Robyn and Wes had their first look outside of the church before their ceremony.

When Wes saw Robyn he was breathless. He couldn’t stop telling her how beautiful she looked. He was moved to tears. It was their moment. In a day filled with friends, family, and busyness, this moment was just for the two of them. Here they expressed their love, excitement, and joy to each other. In the stillness of their embrace there was peace, calm, contentment, happiness.

Woah, what a beautiful couple.

Because Robyn & Wes decided to do a first look there was plenty of time to do formal portraits before the ceremony so they could head straight to the reception after the ceremony. The bridal party was not only fabulous and funny, they are all also gorgeous as well!

After formals Robyn added the final touches and relaxed with her girls before heading down the aisle.

The ceremony was heartfelt and emotional. I’m not sure there was a dry eye in the entire church! Wes surprised Robyn by writing to her about his love for her. The ceremony was at the First Presbyterian Church of Englewood, NJ. It was decorated for Christmas and was the perfect setting for their wedding.

Dr. and Mrs. Liao!

The reception was held at The Brick House in Wyckoff, NJ, where the bridal party and guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the fabulous wine cellar before heading to the ballroom. Every detail was perfect, from the table decor to the delicious food. Every word spoken was a moving tribute to Robyn and Wes and their love for one another.

blog13 Cake! I think at this point of the evening Wes may have been wishing he was an ENT! Robyn got him good!

Jay, the incredible DJ from Elite Sound Entertainment, kept the party moving all night! The dance floor was never empty and I think every person present enjoyed themselves so much!

Robyn and Wes, thank you so much for choosing me to capture your special day. It was such a honor. You are both so kind and genuine, and it is a privilege to know you and call you friends. Enjoy your preview!

Handsome as Ever! https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/11/1080 One of my very favorite things is to watch kids grow right before my lens. It’s such a joy. I’m so thankful to be back in Baltimore so I can reconnect with families I knew before I moved. This baby boy was absolutely adorable at 6 months and is so very handsome 4 years later. Here’s one of my favorites from 4 years ago:

And here’s one of my favorites from tonight:

So handsome – right?! We had a great time together. He was much more active than 4 years ago! :)icon_smile

We enjoyed a bit of time on the swings. I don’t know why I love this image so much but I just do! It captures  this 4 year old’s precious personality so well!

And of course, a bit of tree climbing… just look at those beautiful blues!

We managed to sneak Mom in for a few frames too :)icon_smile

Boys best friend.

What’s a session without a little jumping on the bed?

What a fun afternoon and what a sweet little boy. I enjoyed my time so much (as you can see) and I think he had fun too! What an honor to capture these precious times in life.

Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy your preview!!

Leaves and Cheeks – [family session] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/11/1068 Most of the leaves have fallen to the ground and tonight I had the opportunity to capture one of the last glimpses of a beautiful fall with an absolutely adorable family. They are as kind as the are cute and their love for each other is palpable. Baby boy will be 1 in a few short weeks so we grabbed a few images before winter steals the rest of the sun. J is such a charmer with that sweet grin. He loves his parents but tonight he was especially happy to share some cuddles with mommy.

We had a gorgeous setting at Mariner Point Park. I love the next image – so sweet!

02 I think you’ll agree with the title of the next image. I call it “Cheeks”. O. My. Goodness. I loveee those cheeks!!

03 Too, too cute. All of you!!!

04 The next image is one of the most pure pictures that I’ve had the opportunity to catch. Look at the love in their eyes. They love each other so much and their love just flows out of them as they look at their precious boy.

06 Their sweet boy adores them too.

07 Here’s my personal favorite. Love it!

08 Thank you for spending your evening with me. It was such a pleasure to capture your precious family. I hope you enjoy your preview!

My 3 Sons – [family pictures] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/10/1055 Meet my new friends. As soon as I saw their smiling 4 year old jump out of the van I knew it was going to be a great day. In spite of the snow and bitter cold the day before we were able to catch a piece of fall before it slips away completely. These beautiful boys are so well behaved and were ready to have fun (and smile!). 5 and 4 and so, SO much fun!

It’s hard to tell when my favorite frame is going to show up but today it was pretty early. The boys and I found a big, beautiful tree with perfect fall light peeking through. Love this one. I hope you do too!

The three boys. Adorable.

I told you we had fun!

blog-04 Do you see where the boys get their cuteness? What a gorgeous couple!

Two (cute) little monkeys on the fence!

In all our monkey time we didn’t forget about sweet baby W – he’s a doll. So sweet and content. A perfect addition.

Sweet family. I love this one too.

“Awe Mom!” This was one of the last pictures I snapped. It just captures a quick moment of love between Mommy and Son. So precious. I hope you use this one at graduation :)icon_smile

blog-08 I had such a great time tonight. It was a fun way to end the weekend (and probably autumn)! I so enjoyed meeting you all and your beautiful boys. What a treat!

I hope you enjoy your preview!

[14] – Family Pictures https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/10/1041 True love. It’s hard to know when you’ll meet the love of your life but when you know, you know. Some of us find love early in life and others later. Love happened for these two at 14. You read that right. 14. They met in middle school. They met as kids. They met their life’s love. They have been married for nearly 10 years and have 2 beautiful boys that are a perfect reflection of their love. The laughter, joy, playfulness, and love that they share is fun and exciting. They met at 14 – they’ve been together for 14 years. Sometimes love finds you early – true love.

Their oldest son is a light. So sweet and kind, a genuinely good boy (not to mention absolutely adorable).

Their second son is a sweetheart. He’s a cuddle bug. He also loves to play and is quick to give smiles. What a cutie!

If you know this family you know that this picture will probably be the one hanging on the wall. It visually describes this daddy and his boys so, so well. The look on Daddy’s face may look like agony but in truth it is the purest joy.

Brothers. Beautiful brothers.

Blog-06 I think the next one is my favorite from the session. What a gorgeous family – both inside and out.

I’m not certain that I could do a session with brothers without having a bit of tree climbing fun!

Blog-09 Sweet snuggles.

Blog-07 Look what love has done.

Blog-031 Thanks so much for spending your evening with me. I love your family. Your love. Your boys. Enjoy your preview!

[A Beautiful Fall Day] – family pictures https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/10/1031 This family is one of those families that just ooze love. Their two beautiful girls are playful and sweet and, as you will see, gorgeous. It was a perfect fall day and I’m so thankful I got to spend it capturing this amazing family!

Our session was at the incredible Glenangus farm in Bel Air and it is so peaceful – really breathtaking. Can you feel the love?!

Blog-2 This picture was taken back in 2007 – and the picture below is the same beautiful girl 4 years later.

Blog-3 4 years later there is a little sister who reminds me a lot of her at this age! SJ wasn’t quite sure she wanted to share her smiles today but it didn’t matter; she is so precious and is a doll!

Blog-4 There’s something so special about a daddy and his girls. This daddy is so sweet and gentle with his girls and they absolutely adore him.

Blog-5 My sister, my best friend. These two, although different in many ways, love each other so much and play so well together: playing, hiding, giggling, pretending.

blog-6 No words. Just so beautiful.

Blog-7 Thank you for spending your morning with me. It was such a pleasure to see you again and to watch your family grow. These moments are so precious and I’m honored you chose me to capture them!

They’re made for each other. In December as they celebrate their second anniversary they’ll welcome their precious gift – their daughter.

Blog-01 Robyn is 30 weeks pregnant. A perfect, beautiful baby belly!

Blog-02 We had perfect light, a perfect setting (Rockfield Manor), and a perfect couple.

Blog-03 Robyn, seriously you are stunning. Really, truly, glowing.

[Leanne & Steve] – Baltimore Wedding https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/9/994 Leanne and Steve have a long, enduring love story and this day, their wedding day, was the perfect way to celebrate their love. They were married in the gorgeous Baltimore Basilica. In a lot of ways it was the perfect place for them to be married. It too is seasoned, beautiful, andsomething to admire.

Blog-1 Steve got ready for the big day with his friends and groomsman in the lovely City Center Sheraton Hotel. Kevin captured these shots of the handsome groom.

Blog-3 Leanne spent the morning preparing with her bridesmaids and the fabulous hair and make-up artists at Belle Soeur.

Every detail was perfect from the flowers (Lord Baltimore Florist) to the gorgeous bling. Leanne was prepared and was so excited to get to the church and be married!

Leanne, you are stunning.

Leanne’s girls always make the room light and full of laughter.

Leanne is definitely a Daddy’s girl. These two always make each other smile and their bond is so sweet.

Blog-7 Leanne and Steve attend the Basilica and their ceremony was a traditional Catholic marriage service. Here, Leanne makes an offering to Mary.

It’s official – you’re Mr. & Mrs. Young!

While I was capturing the image above Kevin had a fantastic vantage point just behind them. I love this image.

The reception was held at the City Center Sheraton. It was filled with all of their closest friends and family. Everyone enjoyed a meal, drinks, and plenty of dancing with help from the fabulous Jason Wallace from Absolute Entertainment. It was a perfect celebration of their love.

Blog-11 The day they’ve waited and planned for was more than a celebration; it was the beginning. The beginning of a beautiful marriage.

Congratulations Leanne & Steve!

Thank you for allowing us to capture your wedding and the first day of your marriage. May your love story always be full of happiness.

Mark and Di have been married for over 5 years. Anyone who knows them knows when they walk in to a room the party can start! Their love is sweet, their smiles are pure, and their one liners had me doubled over with laughter. What a fun night; I enjoyed my session with them so much.

Our session was at the picturesque Towson Courthouse and Gardens;  we started right around 7 and the lighting was perfection.

Mark, you’ve still got the skilz

Di, you are absolutely stunning.

Captivated with one another – truly.

Don’t let their love fool you – they’re still absolutely goofy!

Her Eyes https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/8/724 There’s a contest going on over each week at iheartfaces it’s a fun little blog where people all over the country enter their favorite pictures. Each week there’s a guest judge who picks their favorite(s). This weeks theme is “Beautiful Eyes” and there was no question which photo I was going to pick. My first born daughter has the most captivating eyes. I don’t think I’m the only on who thinks so. People are drawn to her and will see her from a distance and feel compelled to come talk to her and tell her how beautiful her eyes are.

I feel like they’re even more special because I have dark brown eyes and my husband has greenish blue eyes. My daughter got my dad’s eyes and my mother-in-law’s eyes and wow oh wow do they make a beautiful combination! I could stare in to those baby blues all day!

Below is my entry – please note I didn’t touch her eyes at all. I took the picture straight out of camera and did a slight curves adjustment and sharpened for web. That’s it… those are her eyes – beautiful just as they are! My sweet girl.

To check out more beautiful eyes (or enter your own!) feel free to visit:

[Happy] Baby Girl https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/8/714 I have photographed many infants over my years in photography and I have never, ever seen a baby as smiley as this sweet baby girl. She smiles with her whole body and her cute little dimples shine through. She is just over 5 weeks old and a pure joy. Her mom and grandma told me she’s not always this happy (but I didn’t believe them)!

Look at that grin!

Ten little fingers…

Ten little toes…

Her GORGEOUS parents!

Daddy’s little football girl :)icon_smile

This sweet baby girl is certainly surrounded with love; a terrific reason to smile.

I hope you enjoy your preview; thank you for allowing me to capture your adorable baby and precious family.

Marisa [Harford Tech Senior - 2012] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/8/705 Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with an amazing senior. I met Marisa as a sixth grader and it is such a pleasure to know her now and see the gorgeous woman she has become. Our session was at the incredible Swan Harbor Farm.

I should have known that the day was going to be perfect when this was the first shot out of my camera!

Marisa loves the beach so we were able to spend a bit of time at the water’s edge capturing a bit of her beauty.

Who knew a fence could look so glamorous?!

Marisa spotted this crazy cool spot with long grasses. I’m so thankful; the series of pictures they produced are absolutely stunning.

Seriously Marisa, you are ridiculously gorgeous; but everyone who knows you also knows how beautiful you are on the inside too. Thank you so much for the opportunity to take these images. I hope you enjoy your preview!

They are so kind and gentle. When I met Rachael she was just a couple months pregnant so it was such a joy to watch her baby grow and now to meet her for the first time. Their baby girl came home from the hospital just over a week ago and she is beyond precious. What a beautiful blessing!

Almost 40 hours of NATURAL labor – worth every minute. Rachael, you a one tough mama!!

Absolutely precious…

Baltimore Engagment: Leanne & Steve https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/7/682 I had the privilege of capturing Leanne & Steve on the hottest day of the year; what’s a heat index of 115 when you’re having fun?!

Baltimore (and L & S) were beautiful nonetheless! Their patient, quiet love makes them a perfect combination and it is a joy to be their photographer.

We all loved this alley – it’s so very Baltimore.

You can just see the love between them!

They’ve been together for 5 years and in just 6 weeks they’ll finally be Mr & Mrs.

Sarah ~ [Southeast Polk Senior] https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/7/663 I met her as a newborn in a stroller.

I hate to date myself, but this time it’s impossible not to.  She was an adorable, sweet, and kind little girl, and now that she’s a woman those characteristics are even more visible. I was her childhood babysitter, so when I had the opportunity to take her senior pictures I jumped at the chance. What a beautiful young lady!  But she’s not just beautiful – she is smart, she is good, and she is a pleasure to know. Her smile lights up the camera.

Thank you, Sarah, for choosing me for your special pictures; it was amazing to see the woman you have grown to become. I am so excited to see the plans the Lord has for you in the next chapter of your journey!

Moments on the swing – who says pictures can’t be fun?!

I’m just going to say what everyone is thinking – Sarah you’re GORGEOUS!!!!!

Congrats Sarah, have a fabulous Senior year!

First Comes Love… https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/6/648 I met her when she was 16; she was just starting her sophomore year of high school. Her mom and I were fast friends and she was a beautiful, talented, and hilarious girl.

I became her mentor; she became my friend. She went away to college in the mountains of Tennessee and while studying for life she found her true love (we have a lot in common). She came home engaged and then married a wonderful man. They day was beautiful – perfect even.

Fast forward about a year… a few days after the birth of my own child I got a phone call and I absolutely knew – she was pregnant. Her baby is absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful baby but really, not a baby anymore; he’s already one.

I am overjoyed that I have had the opportunity to capture some of the greatest moments of this family’s life. An engagement, a wedding, a baby, 6 month old, a 1 year old, and many more milestones to come. I am thankful, I am blessed, I am grateful for friends like this.

Baltimore Engagement: Robyn & Wes https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2011/5/632 “Soy hazelnut latte, please.”

It starts at a tiny corner cafe in the heart of Baltimore’s Federal Hill: a first meeting, a first look, a first smile, a first laugh, a first date.

Robyn & Wes share much more than a first date together. They both have a passion for caring for people and are both in the medical field. They love the city and they know every fabulous nook. They love food: yummy, delicious food of all varieties and kinds. They love each other.

Robyn & Wes wanted to celebrate their love and engagement by revisiting their favorite spots in the city where their love bloomed. We visited the gorgeous historical waterfront community, Fell’s Point; the place of their first date, Koba Cafe; and their home with their two adorable sons – dogs.

They are planning a winter wedding in New Jersey and I am beyond thrilled not only to know them and their genuine love but also to share in capturing it. Below are some images from our beautiful morning in the city…

Wes always has a way of making Robyn laugh!

Robyn – seriously, you’re GORGEOUS!

This was the point in the session where Wes quietly said to Robyn, I’m going to marry you… (insert melt)

The backdrop of the city was a perfect reflection of their style and her love for all things modern and traditional all wrapped into one. Oh yeah, and they’re totally fierce!

This is my favorite of the day – it’s just them: so happy, so fabulous, so in love.

What’s a session without a family portrait? Here’s Ray & Carter being perfect model dogs (this is the only picture that Ray’s mouth isn’t open – HA!)

At the end of our session Wes remarked that he was getting so excited for the wedding. They have a few boxes to pack, a move to make, new jobs to start, and a new home to settle into; but in just a few short months they will be Mr. and Mrs.  I am so excited to capture their commitment and their love on that special day!

Blessing https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2010/10/311 Tonight I had the opportunity to meet this sweet little girl. I would describe her as a busy beautiful blessing. It was wonderful to meet her and her sweet mom and grandma (and adorable aunt and uncle too!). It is one of those times in life when I am beyond thankful for my job. I am grateful to meet people like this family; they inspired and encouraged me. It was my absolute pleasure to meet you all and capture a few sweet moments with your little blessing. I hope you enjoy your preview!

Handsome https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2010/9/307 Is it possible for a 2 year old to be handsome? I submit, absolutely, positively, 100%, yes. Just take a look at this handsome little boy that I had the opportunity to photograph at the UK (University of Kentucky) Arboretum. It was a perfect night and we came away with some great moments. I hope you enjoy your preview!

Rain, Rain, Go Away https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2010/6/298 It was a cloudy day and we were able to get wonderful shots in spite of some ominous clouds! The moment we loaded up our cars to leave the skies opened and it started pouring. Thanks for being so brave and thanks for the beautiful smiles! I had a great time with your sweet family. Enjoy your previews!

Facebook Friends… https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2010/1/293 Don’t you love when things just work out?

About 2.5 weeks ago an old high school friend’s name popped up on my computer screen and I knew I had to “be-friend” him… After a few quick messages I learned that he lived in the same state as me (nearly 12 hours from our homeland) and he was expecting his first child. To my amazement, 2 weeks later I got a message that he would be traveling my way and would like for me to take some pictures of his beautiful new daughter. After 12 years (are we THAT old?!) it was such a true blessing to catch up with a good friend, his beautiful wife, AND absolutely adorable baby girl. Baby “M” was so precious, tiny, and sweet – a perfect little model; just 10 days old and so peaceful.

I look forward to spending more time my old – new friends again soon. Don’t you love it when things just work out?

Enjoy your preview!

A beautiful family https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/8/258 I have to start this post by assuring you that the pictures you are about to see are infact of a REAL family. They aren’t models that I hand-picked for that perfect looking family. They are real and they are sweet. I was so happy to share the evening with this special family – we had a great time and I love the images we were able to capture. Thanks so much “B” family! I hope you enjoy your previews!

Five pounds of precious https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/8/250 I had the opportunity to take some newborn pictures for some good friends of ours. How sweet is this little bundle? Thanks for sharing your morning with me – I hope you enjoy your preview!

4th of July – 2009 https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/7/228 We had such a wonderful day together. The 4th of July was overcast and perfect – cool weather all morning. We enjoyed going to Wilmore (where Kevin goes to school – it’s about a 3 minute drive down our street). They had a morning parade and then a craft/fun festival after wards at the local campground.

Faith loved her first parade (complete with CANDY!), her first Ale-8 (she is a Kentucky girl after all), dancing to live music with her friends, $0.25 hot dogs, and her very first fireworks display. It was such a fun day!!collage-webcollage-web

Below are a few pictures of the parade. Wilmore is the most charming little community and it has such a Mayberry feel. People are friendly and everyone is your neighbor – it’s like stepping back in time – if only for a moment. Please note the lawnmower men – a yearly parade tradition. About 50 guys push their lawnmowers through the parade – complete with their own choreography! It was so funny! And I couldn’t leave out the blue eyed horse!

Young Love https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/6/219 I love these two. She is like a little sister to me. I mentored her in high school and cheered her through college where she found her true love. This is the one and only wedding I have ever shot. It was a long tough day but I feel like I was able to give them some pictures to cherish forever.

This week on iHeartFaces I am super excited just for the opportunity that maybe – just maybe one of the best wedding photographers in the industry (in my opinion) just may glance at this picture. Jasmine Star has been in the wedding photography business for only 3 years but she has managed to take the industry by storm with her fresh perspective. I’m a follower of her blog and her work – she is a true inspiration to me!!

Best Daddy https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/6/189 The best dad I know – my sweet husband. What a wonderful, kind, gentle, loving man – I love him so much and so does our sweet girl. I know our new baby girl will adore him just as much… I love you Kev.

Makes Me Miss Fall https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/6/180 Fall is my favorite season – I just love the crisp cool air. This week’s theme for iHeartFaces is sepia toned. The picture I took was taken on one of those perfect crisp days and all the colors were surrounding this perfect sepia tone.

Blowing out candles with spit https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/6/159 This week for iHeartFaces the theme is birthdays – Recently it was my husband’s birthday and our little one of course had to help blow out the candles. After about 5 tries she decided to go the unconventional route and add a little spit to her blowing (the cake was still yummy!) :)icon_smile

My Favorite https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/5/143 This week’s challenge for iHeartFaces was very tough for me. Pick your favorite picture. How do I ever choose? For some reason I’m always drawn to this picture. I love their sweet faces, crystal eyes, and her toothless smile. Sweet TWINS! This was such a sweet and natural second of love between the two of them and I just adore it. I hope you like it too!

I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb Book photo contest. I am granting I Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I Faces web sites.

Glowing https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/1/90 I had the pleasure of going to Tennessee for a friends wedding and I had the chance to capture some quick shots of a dear college friend and her sweet baby girl. Have I said before that I love love love maternity pictures?! There really is such a glow about pregnant women and I love it! Thanks so much for sharing this precious time with me!! I can’t wait to meet your sweet little guy!

Okay, and I can’t resist putting this picture up – sweet baby G. is the perfect example as to why photographers (or mommies or daddies or anyone) should say “cheese” – you might not get exactly the expression you were hoping for! LOL!

What to expect. https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/1/26 Relax! This is going to be fun! As a mom and a former teacher Meggan has the ability to connect quickly with children. She will take the time to get to know you and your children to make the experience pleasant and easy for all! Please have children fed and rested (and don’t forget to make sure you’re fed too)! A full and rested child is a happy one. Meggan will generally not pose you – she wants your pictures to be a true reflection of your interaction. Enjoy playing and being silly – this will be a fun time. She will often take children aside to get individual shots. This may be a good time to have you child’s favorite toy or something sentimental that you think would work to bring out their natural expression. Don’t worry about rushing. There will be plenty of time for breaks, snacks, and clothing changes. Back to FAQ

What should I wear? https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/1/22 Be comfortable. Don’t wear office clothing or anything that will make you or your children uptight.  If you want to go for a classic timeless portrait try solid colors, textures and simple outfits (denim overalls, slip dresses, etc.). Try to stay away from large logos, slogans, or distracting patterns. You are the star of the photo – not your clothes. If you’d like to go for a trendier look feel free to do that as well! You can bring several outfits for the session and we’ll see what works. Also, feel free to bring cute accessories: hats, scarves, dress-up jewelry, etc. Plan to have fun!

How do I book a session? https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/1/30 Call or e-mail us to book a session: 859-881-8638 or meggan@sweetcaptures.com

Sessions typically book up to 2 weeks in advance.  Please consider scheduling your session in advance to insure availability.  When booking a session we will discuss the location. Have in mind a few of your favorite spots: a park, a garden, a local beauty spot, or even your home. Limited studio shots may be done at my home. If we get rained out we will schedule another session as soon as possible for both parties.

The session fee is $50 and is due at the time of the session. It includes time and talent of the photographer – no prints are included in the session fee.

Sessions may last up to 1.5 hours so there will be plenty of time for breaks, snacks, and clothing changes.

The online gallery will be available for ordering for 2 weeks. Once your order has been placed you can expect to receive your prints in 7-10 days. Special order items (books, albums, etc) will take longer to process.

Tips for Newborns https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/1/34 The best time to take newborn pictures is within the first 2 weeks of life.  Babies have the curled look for a very short time and it is important to capture it before it’s gone! We would strongly suggest scheduling your session in advance to ensure your session and have it on the calendar before the baby’s birth as the days after delivery are hectic. If your little one arrives early or late we can push the date accordingly. Meggan will come to your home for these precious shots; Meggan’s in home studio is also available.  Bare skin is best with newborns. Meggan has studio lighting that accommodates for keeping little ones warm. Newborns can be complete docile or screamers – either way, don’t worry, we will work together to have beautiful shots!

Maternity portrait tips https://www.sweetcaptures.com/blog/2009/1/36 Pregnancy is such a brief and beautiful time in a woman’s life and Meggan truly loves to capture these quiet anticipatory moments. Typically maternity sessions should be scheduled near the end of the pregnancy – we recommend the 36th week. Each maternity session is different and each is based on the comfort level of the mother. You may choose to keep your belly completely clothed; in this case it is important to wear a tight fitting shirt to show off your belly. You may also feel comfortable showing your belly. If stretch marks or veins are a concern Meggan can decrease or erase their visibility on film. Feel free to bring items that you think your baby will love or items that you cherish.  Often mothers do not feel their best and do not want pictures of this time but most women look back on their pregnancy (regardless of prior feeling) as a precious time.
